These Installation Instructions describe the essential steps for using this product. Please also observe the relevant standards and guidelines, in particular the occupational health and safety regulations.
Generalities:
The Railing System SG 40-S (Order No. 9850) is a functional, stable guardrail solution made of galvanized steel, which is to be installed without drilling. It consists of a solid circular handrail (Order No. 9851) with a diameter of 42 mm and midrails (Order No. 9852) with a diameter of 34 mm.
Note:
The Railing System SG 40-E does not prevent climbing, as it is equipped with horizontal midrails. Therefore, this railing system is particularly inadequate for areas which are accessible to children (danger of climbing over the railing).

Assembly of Railing Posts:
The railing posts are to be connected to the Guardrail Base GB (Order No. 3420)/GB-corner (Order No. 3445 resp. 3446) by means of a matching counter flange.
The connection is to be established by means of screwing devices made of steel which are delivered together with the railing posts (M10 bolts, washers and locking nuts). A washer is to be positioned at the bottom side of each slot. The railing posts are to be positioned exactly perpendicular (e.g. using the practical Zinco GB-washers Order No. 9817) and to be aligned properly.
Assembly of Handrail and Midrail(s):
The midrail supports (Order No. 9857) are to be pushed onto the midrail. The exact spacing between the posts is to be considered. Each of the 6 m long midrail bars is then attached to the railing posts section by section and fixed at the desired height using an allen screw. The midrail and handrail bars can be cut, if necessary, either with a hand saw or an angle grinder. It is important to deburr the sharp edges after cutting and to protect the cut surfaces against corrosion, e.g. using zinc spray (Order No. 9540).
Midrail resp. handrail bars can be attached to each other using corresponding couplings (Order No. 9859 resp. 9858). The couplings are to be pushed over the steel pipes and fastened via allen screws.
In the corners the midrails and handrails are connected accordingly using corner joints (Order No. 9853 resp. 9855).
Midrail and handrail pieces can be equipped with synthetic end caps (Order No. 9861 resp. 9862), which can easily be attached. If the handrail ends at a wall it is recommendable to fix it with a wall connection piece (Order No. 9860).
Once all midrails are installed, the handrail pieces can be equipped with the corresponding supports (Order No. 9856), attached to the guardrail posts and fastened.
Installation of the door set – right/left:
The door posts are installed in the same way as the balustrade posts, see the previous installation step. The door posts should be positioned 1.06 m apart. Slide the hinges onto the door posts and adjust them to the correct height.
Tighten the hinge screws using an Allen key. Hang the door on the hinges in accordance with whether it is a right- or left-hand door. Check that the handle set is correctly positioned in relation to the strike plate to ensure the door closes properly.
Finally, after the dimensional check, check the screws on the railing again and tighten them if necessary.
In any case, check the stability of the railing once again!
