Installation Instructions and Instructions for use for Fallnet ASG for DOWNLOAD
Important installation and maintenance instructions:
The ZinCo Fallnet ® ASG, in conjunction with a Superimposed / extra load in the form of a securely positioned greening with at least 80 kg/m² (dry weight), represents a collective side protection system for temporary maintenance work in accordance with EN 13374 Class A.
Creation of a secure green covering:
The greening serves as a counterweight for the Fallnet ® ASG. Special attention must therefore be paid to its positional stability. For the vegetation substrate, angular, crushed and specifically heavy material with a bulk weight of at least 1000 kg/m³ must be used for the main components. The minimum surface load in the installed dry state of the greening is 80 kg/m². The greening measure itself provides additional protection through rooting. If there is a risk of wind erosion between the application of the fill material (= substrate) and the greening measure, additional countermeasures must be taken, e.g. in the form of pre-greened mats or elements or Jute Anti-Erosion Net. Annual maintenance and care is mandatory. It must be ensured that there is permanent extensive vegetation and thus root penetration = positional stability. The minimum layer thickness required, depending on the System Substrate / Substrate Soil / Growing Medium used, must be randomly checked and documented during annual maintenance.
General installation, maintenance and safety instructions
- The ZinCo Fallnet® ASG must be installed and inspected by trained specialist personnel in accordance with these instructions.
- Before construction, all parts of the ZinCo Fallnet® ASG must be checked for damage. All damaged parts must be replaced.
- The roof slope must not exceed 5°.
- The ZinCo Fallnet® ASG may only be used on roofs with fascia / attic / roof parapet. The parapet height must be at least 50 mm. If the difference between the substrate surface and the top edge of the fascia / attic / roof parapet is less than 150 mm, additional toe boards must be installed.
- The distance between the posts must not exceed 2.6 m.
- A post module must always be installed at the start/end of the ZinCo Fallnet® ASG. The maximum projection of the handrail/Midrail is 0.3 m.
- The Handrail/Midrail is extended by interlocking the individual elements. The T-plug connections must be joined together as far as they will go.
- The T-plug connections of the handrails, midrails and Corner joints are secured with a self-tapping screw.
- Corner joints must be used to form the corners of the handrail and midrail. The distances between the Corner joints and the posts are max. 0.44 m on one side and max. 1.65 m on the other side.
- The posts are vertically adjustable. The clearance between the midrail and toe board or between the midrail and the top edge of the fascia / attic / roof parapet must not exceed 470 mm.
- All nuts and screws must be tightened to 10 Nm. Suitable lubricant must be applied to the lanyards to prevent "seizing".
- Ensure that openings between the side protection system and other structures at the building edge / drop edge are as small as possible and do not exceed 120 mm for the Handrail/Midrail and 20 mm for the toe board.
- The handrail must be at least 1000 mm above the planned substrate surface.
Safety instructions and general guidelines:
- Before construction, ensure that all required parts are available.
- Only undamaged original components may be used.
- Do not make any changes to the product that could impair its function or safety.
- When carrying out any work, observe the applicable technical regulations, the workers' compensation regulations (AUVA), the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV) and the information, rules and regulations of the employers' liability insurance associations.
- When installing the ZinCo Fallnet® ASG, ensure that the installers are secured against falling.
- After a person has fallen or an object has fallen against or into the ZinCo Fallnet® ASG, the guardrail may only continue to be used if
- the railings may only continue to be used if they have been checked and released by a competent person.
- It must be ensured that the ZinCo Fallnet® ASG is checked for stability after installation or before starting work on the roof. In particular, the positional stability of the greening must also be inspected. If there are visible signs of erosion, the minimum layer thickness of the vegetation support course must be checked and the railings blocked if necessary until the defect has been rectified.
ZinCo Fallnet ASG structural elements:
1 post module
(complete with bracket
and counterweight plate)
2 Handrail
3 Midrail
4 Toe board
5 Load weight
6 Corner joint
Tools required:
Wrench SW 13
Tighten nuts to a torsional movement of 10 Nm
Cordless screwdriver
Drill 3.5 mm diameter
Chop saw, suitable for aluminium or alternatively 2 inch pipe cutter
Set up the posts:
In principle, the railings can be installed at two inclinations: 90° or 67.5°. Therefore, the necessary steps for both applications can be found in the respective column below.
Release the post module transport lock:
Loosen the marked nut and unscrew the screw.
Step 2: Adjust the post to the desired inclination:
Unfold post to 90° and insert screw. / Open the post to 67.5° and insert the screw.
Fixing the posts:
For post position 90°: Attach washer and nut and tighten.
For post position 67.5°: Fit washer and nut and tighten.
Apply a protective mat to the roof surface:
Regardless of the desired post inclination of the railings, a protective mat is applied over the entire surface, in accordance with the desired
Greening structure, a protective mat of at least 300 g/m² is applied.
Setting up the post modules:
Push the posts all the way up to the fascia / attic / roof parapet!
Install the handrails and midrails:
Insert the Handrail/Midrail into the tube fixation. Tighten the screw.
Connecting the handrail or midrail:
The Handrail/Midrail is extended by inserting the individual elements one behind the other.
Caution! Make absolutely sure that the T-plug connections are joined together as far as they will go.
The T-plug connections are permanently fixed in place using self-tapping screws.
Corner formation:
Insert the cast joint into the Handrail/Midrail, pre-drill a hole with a diameter of 3.5 mm in each case
approx. 15 mm from the edge and fix the cast joint with self-tapping drill screws. It makes sense to fix the
It is advisable to fix the cast joint on one side before attaching the uprights to prevent it from falling down (edge of roof / perimeter!)
The distances from the joints to the posts are max. 0.44 m on one side and max. 1.65 m on the second side.
Apply greenery to secure the position
In accordance with the notices given at the beginning of the document for a securely positioned greening, a full-surface securely positioned greening must now be created. The greening also comes to rest on the counterweight plate of the post bracket and thus provides the necessary ballasting!
Fitting toe boards
This step is only necessary if the distance between the working surface and the upper edge of the fascia / attic / roof parapet is less than 15 cm. Ensure that the clearance between the lower edge of the toe board and the substrate surface is always less than 20 mm.
Depending on the installation height of the greening, there are two different installation cases:
Case 1: Use of the upper slot on the post base: insert two hammerhead screws per post into the lower T slot of the toe board, thread into the longitudinal slots of the post base, fit nuts and tighten.
Case 2: Use of 2 metal brackets per post
With a correspondingly high greening structure, the toe board is attached directly to the railing post:
Insert four hammerhead bolts per post into the T-slot of the toe board and insert into the holes in the Fasteners on the post. Then fit and tighten the nuts.
Connecting the toe board and corner formation
Insert four hammer-head bolts into the anchor line of the toe board, insert into the holes of the butt or corner joint, fit washers and nuts and tighten.
