ZinCo Railing System SG 40-E

These Installation Instructions describe the essential steps for using these products. Please also observe the relevant standards and guidelines, in particular the occupational health and safety regulations.

General information:

The Railing System SG 40-E (Order No. 9800) is a stainless steel railing V2A (grade 3401, grind 240) which is easy to install without welding. It has a fixed round handrail (Order No. 9801) with a diameter of 40 mm and midrails (Order No. 9802) with a diameter of 12 mm made of solid material.

Notice:

Railing System SG 40-E is not climb-proof as it is fitted with horizontal midrails. This railing is therefore particularly unsuitable if these areas are accessible to children (climbing over the railings).

Tools required:

  • Wrench SW 17
  • Ratchet ring wrench SW 17
  • Allen key (SW 2.5 and SW 3.0)
  • Angle grinder
  • Drill with 12 mm drill bit (only required for wall mounting)

Mounting the railing posts

The railing posts are connected to the Guardrail Base GB (Order No. 3420) or Guardrail Base GB-corner (Order No. 3445 or 3446) using a suitable counter flange.

The screw connection must be made using the supplied fasteners (M10 screws, washers and lock nuts) made of Stainless steel.

The washer must be placed on the rubberised underside of the slotted hole. The railing posts must be aligned and brought plumb into the water (e.g. with the practical ZinCo GB-U washers, Order No. 9817).

Installing the midrails and handrail

The midrail Supports (Order No. 9807) are pushed onto the midrails. The respective post spacing must be observed.

The individual midrail Supports, each 3 m in length, are then attached to the railing posts in sections ...

... and fixed at the desired height with the Allen screw.

If necessary, midrails and handrail sections can be cut to length using either a hand saw or an angle grinder. It is important that the sharp edges are deburred after cutting. When sawing off and fitting the midrail or handrail, make sure that it is not scratched.

Midrails or handrails can be joined together using midrail connectors (Order No. 9809) or handrail connectors (Order No. 9808). The midrail/handrail connectors are slid over the stainless steel tubes and glued in place at the end once the railings have been aligned using the metal adhesive supplied. At corners, the midrails or handrail pieces are connected accordingly with a corner joint (Order No. 9803 or 9805).

Stainless steel end pieces (Order No. 9811 or 9812) can be fitted to the midrails and handrail pieces, which are simply pushed on and glued in place. If the handrail ends at a wall, it can be fixed there with a handrail end piece (Order No. 9804) (dowel screw Ø 12 mm).

Once all the midrails have been attached, the handrail sections can be fitted with handrail supports (Order No. 9806) and attached to the railing posts. Use the height adjustment to bring the handrail to the desired height and fix it in place. Only use the adhesive when you are sure that the midrails or handrail no longer need to be dismantled.

Finally, after checking the dimensions, check the railing screws again and tighten them if necessary and clean the railings.

Be sure to check the stability of the railings again!
