Fallnet® PPE-Set - Instructions for use

Harness in accordance with EN 361

The full body harness is a component of personal protective equipment and should be personal to the user.

It may only be used with energy absorbers in accordance with DIN EN 355, arrester with rigid anchor line. DIN EN 353-1, guided type fall arrester on a movable rope shortener according to EN 353-2 or retractable type fall arrester DIN EN 360.

Fastening the harness:

Pull on the shoulder straps (red-orange) like suspenders. The safety eyelet must rest against the back. The sit harness (blue) must be positioned under the buttocks. The leg straps must enclose the thighs, but must not be tight. Fasten the waist belt correctly.

Always ensure that the harness and the safety eyelet in the middle of the back are correctly positioned!

The fall arrest attachment point in the back must be used with a fall arrest system DIN EN 363 or rescue system DIN EN 1497. Connectors and restraint systems are not suitable for fall arrest purposes. The lanyard must be adjusted so that a free fall is limited to a maximum of 0.5 m. The lanyard must not be looped over sharp edges or diameters that are too small. Adjust the lanyards of retaining and restraint systems so that a fall cannot be achieved.

The anchor point should be above the user or on the roof surface and should not have any sharp edges.

Guided type fall arresters on a movable anchor line (AM4-UNI KS12 rope shortener) DIN EN 353 Part 2 and for horizontal use (fall over a sharp edge)

The guided type fall arrester is a component of a fall arrest system (DIN EN 363) and may only be used with a full body harness (DIN EN 361), e.g. AH or AMG, and belt shock absorber UNI (DIN EN 355).

Application rope shortener AM4 UNI KS12:

The AM4 UNI rope shortener is permanently attached to the safety rope. A snap hook is sewn into the front part of the safety rope and the end is secured with a knot. The rope shortener is attached to the eyelet in the neck with an intermediate belt fall shock absorber. The rope can be shortened or lengthened by pressing the handle. Slack rope formation should be avoided as far as possible.

Horizontal application:

When using the guided type fall arrester in a horizontal arrangement, the guide rope is attached to an anchorage point in accordance with DIN EN 795 using the tubular hook. The anchor point does not necessarily have to be above the person to be secured (e.g. anchor points or structures on roof surfaces, tower platforms, platforms, etc.).

When using the AM4 UNI KS12 rope shortener in the area of unsecured fall edges, care must be taken to ensure that the KS12 kernmantle rope is only guided over edges with a radius greater than 0.5 mm, even in the event of a possible fall into the fall arrest system. These are, for example, platform edges made of steel girders, wooden constructions, parapet covers made of angled sheet metal, (concrete) masonry, etc.

In the case of particularly sharp edges such as sheared, ground or cut steel edges (e.g. trapezoidal sheets without edge finish or similar), edge protection or a special retractable type fall arrester must be used in case of doubt.

Warning

The user must carry out a visual inspection of the entire system before each use. Damaged parts of the system or parts that have been stressed by falling must be withdrawn from use and must be presented to the manufacturer or a person authorized by the manufacturer for inspection.

Modifications and additives to the system are not permitted. The system or its components must be replaced immediately if there is any doubt as to its safe condition. Repairs may only be carried out by the manufacturer.

Full body harnesses, energy absorbers and rope shorteners must not be exposed to acids or corrosive chemicals; if unavoidable, rinse immediately after use.

Wash only with warm water and mild detergent, dry naturally, i.e. in an airy room and away from sources of fire or heat. Lightly oil moving parts after cleaning.

Full body harnesses, energy absorbers and rope shorteners must be protected from damage (e.g. welding sparks, sharp edges) during use. Appropriate protective covers made of leather or PVC are available as accessories.

PPE should be stored in an equipment case or equipment bag to protect it from hazards during transportation or storage.

The system must be inspected at least every 12 months by a competent person or by the manufacturer and - if necessary - repaired.

In accordance with ZH 1/709; 1/710-BGR, the service life for webbing is six to eight years. Four to six years for ropes.

The user is instructed to follow the manufacturer's/supplier's recommendation. If in doubt, please contact the manufacturer/supplier.
