Installation steps Guardrail Base GB:
1. Laying out the Guardrail Base GB and installing the railings
Measuring and laying out the Guardrail Base GB and ..
... assembly of the railings
Hole pattern of the fixing flange of the Guardrail Base GB
(4 slotted holes approximately / approx. 18 x 11)
Measure and lay out the Guardrail Base according to the planning documents. The specified spacing of the railing posts must be observed. If surface drainage is required and the post spacing is > 1.0 m, the gaps must be designed accordingly (e.g. Zinco Floradrain® FD 40).
The railings are installed using a screw connection with a suitable counter flange. Lanyards (M10 bolts, washers and stop nuts should be made of Stainless steel. The washer should be placed on the rubberised underside of the slotted hole. The material temperature should be above +5° during installation. The manufacturer's installation instructions must be observed when installing the railings!
2. Applying the required Superimposed / extra load
The required Superimposed / extra load in the adjacent table is for Guardrail Base GB depending on the required horizontal forces (h) and post spacing (s). If the wind load is greater than the required upright load, this must be used to determine the required Superimposed / extra load. Before applying the required Superimposed / extra load, we recommend checking all connections and the position of the railings.
Notice:
The Guardrail Base must always be filled with stone chippings or gravel / grit up to the top of the Base plate (approx. 43 mm). With a filling volume of 15-16 l/m², this corresponds to a Superimposed / extra load of approximately / approx. 25 kg/m². Superimposed / extra load can take the form of a concrete slab in a chippings bedding at least 50 mm high, with an appropriate greening structure, gravel or another equivalent bulk material.
superimposed / extra load required in kg/m²
