These Installation Instructions describe the essential steps for using this product. Please also observe the relevant standards and guidelines, in particular the occupational health and safety regulations.
Inspection Chambers protect the outlets from contamination and ensure easy access for inspection and maintenance.
Installation:
The fascia / attic / roof parapet Inspection Chamber is required when roof outlets are placed directly at the edge of the roof / perimeter or the roof drainage is via water spouts to the side. The AKS 8 is usually placed directly on the drainage element. All layers in the diameter of the outlet or spout opening are cut out beforehand. A cross cut is not sufficient for this.
The open side of the Inspection Chamber is placed directly on the fascia / attic / roof parapet. This Inspection Chamber can be used on roof upstands with or without an insulation wedge; the diagonally perforated corners are bent as required (without tools).
The Filter Sheet is laid over the Inspection Chamber and cut out so that the slots of the Inspection Chamber remain free but the flange is covered.
For single-layer greening, the Inspection Chamber is laid directly on the protective mat.
If extension pieces (KSA 8/30 / KSA 20/30) are used, the cover, lid of the Inspection Chamber is removed for installation, the required number of extension pieces are fitted and the cover, lid is placed back on the Inspection Chamber (maximum height approx. 60 cm).
Due to the edge position, the fascia / attic / roof parapet inspection chamber is usually located in the gravel edge strip. The gravel / grit prevents slippage and the ingrowth of plants.
It is advisable to apply the gravel / grit before the System Substrate / Substrate Soil / Growing Medium. When applying the gravel, the shaft should be covered with a sturdy protective fleece or similar to prevent debris and damage to the cover, lid.
During subsequent work, care must be taken to ensure that the Inspection Chamber is not displaced and retains its position above the roof outlet.
Maintenance:
The Inspection Chamber should be opened regularly during the course of green roof maintenance and the outlet underneath checked. Debris must be removed to ensure proper functioning.
